Parksville Show And Shine

On Sunday August 5th, VEVC members travelled North to join EV owners from the Nanaimo, Parksville and Qualicum area to provide the first mass EV exhibit at the Shriners Annual Show and Shine Car Show, the largest Summer gathering of new and classic cars on Vancouver Island.

Under sunny skies, thousands of car enthusiasts flocked to our exhibit, far outnumbering those gathered around other cars and sometimes 4-5 deep as Club members and owners introduced many to their first experience of a zero emission lifestyle.

It was clear that younger drivers and couples in particular had the most interest, although one gentleman who’d just purchased a brand new Cadillac announced he was taking it back immediately and trading up to a Tesla.

Watching kids scrambling to take turns at the wheel of a Model 3, event organizer Jim Hindson offered the best comment of the day, “Of course they love it! It’s an iPhone with wheels!”
