GM Invests $300 Million in EVs

General Motors has announced a $300 million investment to produce a new Chevrolet electric vehicle that will be based off an “advanced version” of the Bolt EV architecture.

The investment is directly targetted for GM’s Orion Township, Mich. plant, where the Bolt is manufactured. GM predicts the new vehicle build will create 400 new jobs.

Although no details on what new vehicle will be created, the announcement follows GM’s stated direction in January to move away from hybrids to BEV production, with an eye to SUVs and pickup trucks.
