Jim Hill — Director of Music
Jim has directed the music for nearly one hundred and fifty musicals, reviews, industrials and all that jazz. He wrote four of them and arranged fourteen. Educated at the University of Michigan and Princeton, he has worked, taught and directed with Berthold Carriere, Robin Phillips, Bill Hutt, Martha Henry, Bernard Hopkins, Howard Dick, Anna Russell, Eugene Ormandy, Robert Shaw, John Rutter at the Stratford Festival, The Shaw Festival, Huron Country Playhouse, The Grand Theater, The University Of Western Ontario, the U.N., Langham Court Theater, The Royal York Hotel, the CBC, Sheridan College, The Royal, Chemainus and McPherson Theatres in Victoria and Fanshaw Community College.
Jim has received the Award Of Merit from the Government of Canada and founded and/or co-founded nine theater companies, written for a National Theater magazine and played church organ for forty years. He is currently Director of Music at the Canadian College of Performing Arts in Victoria, B.C. He composes, arranges and accompanies and recently won the Critics Choice Award for Best Musical (Songs For A New World) and Best Runner Up (Into The Woods) 2006.
