Road Trip in our Nissan LEAF
Published on 20 May 2013
When my cousin and I decided to take our daughters on a road trip in my Nissan LEAF, we thought it would be fun to film the experience to share with other EV enthusiasts. We hope you enjoy it – we certainly had fun!
We’ve made several trips from Victoria to Vancouver, Squamish and the Sunshine Coast, but this was the first trip of any significant distance in the Leaf. We traveled from Victoria, BC to Spanaway, WA with a side trip to Tacoma, then returned to Vancouver (Granville Island) and back to Victoria. The total trip was 750 km and every charging station was free – so the trip cost exactly $0.00 in fuel.
While we had a bit of trouble with our Aerovironment fob, their customer service was excellent and it didn’t cause too much delay (just the time it took to wait on hold for a rep – in one case, only 1-2 minutes.) The Level 3 DC chargers were true to form and charged the car to 80% in 30 minutes. The Aerovironment stations would charge the car to 100% if you left it longer. We also used stations in the Blink and ChargePoint networks, as you’ll see…
