Eight Nations join Canada’s Pledge To Accelerate Commercial ZEV Adoption

Canada was the first country to make the “Drive to Zero Pledge” last June, committing to grow zero-emission commercial vehicle manufacturing, infrastructure and deployment. Joining it this week were China, Germany, Finland, Japan, Chile, Norway,  Sweden and the Netherlands.

“Freight is often overlooked in the discussion, but is crucial for us to meet our climate goals and improve the livability in cities,” said Stientje van Veldhoven, Minister for the Environment of the Netherlands.

Drive to Zero has developed a “beachhead strategy” in the most promising industry segments for ZEV adoption. Success in those areas is expected to create pathways into other segments where the technology can flourish and achieve full market penetration by 2040.
