ECO-Night a HUGE Success!

Gotta say it, best ECO-Night yet.
The photo above (courtesy Ted Davies) captures one small moment of the VEVC’s signature public outreach event — ECO-Night. Seconds later, the Chevy Bolt depicted (driven by Doug Wright) led a parade of EVs onto center ice at Victoria’s Save-On-Foods arena to give a cheering crowd a small taste of what the future will look like.
The game was sold out. The home team won. 2000 fans went home with a VEVC branded water bottle. And literally hundreds signed up for test drives or got to know a wide variety of electric cars.
The ice parade was awesome — featuring the first Chevy Bolt to take part in an Eco-night and the Canadian debut of the Hyundai Kona, topped off by a spectacular on-ice performance by the Model X.
A few hundred folks also went home with brand new EV themed T-shirts, courtesy of Julian Sale and his Motorize team. A couple more will be experiencing a free Tesla Tour from Kevin Belanger, while a very excited kid won a Mini-Tesla and his dad will be spending 24 hours with a Model S.
And if that isn’t enough — the Victoria Royals mascot, Marty the Marmot’s new pal, Lumo the robot (invisibly assisted by Thomas Ahn) was mobbed by kids the entire night.
Thanks to everyone who participated as well as those who couldn’t attend but have been so essential to making the Victoria EV Club the force that it is in our sustainable future.
